Summary:

The Instrumental Director collaborates with the Musical Director/Producer to provide a positive and enriching musical production experience for students and the community. This role ensures that the instrumental component of the production aligns with district standards and policies while contributing to a successful and educational performance.

 

Education and Experience:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be 18 or older and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a school employee background check.
  • Ability to set clear expectations and enforce rules in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Excellent patience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to student safety.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with youth in a musical theatre setting.
  • Knowledge of techniques for overseeing students in unstructured settings, behavior management, report writing, record keeping, and interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
  • Basic first-aid and CPR certification.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Musical Director/Producer to:
    • Select the show and audition cast members
    • Develop rehearsal schedules and handle purchases and money collection per district procedures
    • Distribute information to students and parents/guardians
  • Teach instrumental parts to pit orchestra members and provide music instruction
  • Attend scheduled meetings as required
  • Maintain high academic and behavioral standards
  • Represent the school district positively in all interactions.
  • Adhere to school district policies and follow the established chain of command.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned
  • Maintain a consistent and reliable on-site work schedule

  • Language Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to analyze musical scores and adapt accompaniment as needed.
  • Other Skills & Abilities:. Strong sight-reading and error detection abilities. Ability to work independently and collaborate with others. Effective problem-solving skills in a musical context.

 

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing duties, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, stand, and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally, lifting and carrying of up to 30 pounds may be required. The role involves moderate physical activity, with specific visual abilities such as close vision and depth perception, and effective speech communication. Ability to transport and set up musical equipment as needed.

Additional Information:

  • Schedule: Part-time/After School/Weekends. Schedule set by the Building Principal.
  • Third-Party Contracting: Non-TRCS staff members will be contracted through EduStaff as a third-party contracted position
